We are pleased to announce that our fund raising efforts have raised a grand total of $32,000 for UMPS Care, with $15,588 raised in 2016 alone. Thanks to everyone who attended and supported UMPS Care through donations; we couldn't do this without you! In short, the night was filled with tasty food, camaraderie, raffle prizes, and a lot of fun bowling.

Thank you to Umps Care, its staff and leadership, and everyone that helped make the 2016 bowling event another huge success. Special recognition and thanks to: Jennifer Skolochenko, Jenn Jopling,  Gary Darling, Ted Barrett, Alfonso Marquez, Tina Barrett, Staci Marquez, Deanna Reynolds, and Brett Terry. Without your dedication and planning, this wonderful event wouldn't have taken place.

UMPS Care Programs:

BLUE for Kids Hospital Program

In the game of life, it's not just about balls and strikes. That's why baseball's men in blue are giving back to Major League Baseball communities across the country. The BLUE for Kids hospital program brings a crew of Major League umpires to the bedside of children with a life-threatening illnesses, and they don't come empty handed. Each crew brings a Build-A-Bear Workshop experience right to the hospital room!

BLUE Crew Tickets

A professional sporting event is just the ticket to inspire a child in foster care or strengthen a mentor/youth match. Major League Baseball umpires offer memorable baseball experiences for children awaiting adoption and at-risk youth in mentoring programs through the BLUE Crew Tickets program.

Each BLUE Crew Tickets VIP experience includes great seats to the ballgame, a goody bag of ‘all things baseball’, and the unique opportunity to step onto the field for a souvenir baseball and photo. The baseball experience is designed to strengthen relationships of at-risk youth and adult caregivers.

Since the program started in 2006, MLB umpires have welcomed more than 6,000 guests to games across the country.

Baseball Assistance Team (B.A.T.) Spring Meeting AMLU Donation

Secretary AMLU

What is B.A.T.?

The Baseball Assistance Team (B.A.T.) was formed in 1986 by a group of former Major League Baseball players. B.A.T. was founded to confidentially help members of the Baseball Family who were in need of assistance with nowhere else to turn. In 1991, a one-time contribution was jointly made by Major League Baseball, the Major League Baseball Players Association and the Gannett affiliated Freedom Foundation to establish an endowment for B.A.T. The charitable organization was not intended to take the place of a pension or to serve as one. The intention was to serve as a bridge to help people get back on their feet. The organization has changed slightly since 1986 but one thing has not changed: If a member of the Baseball Family is in need of medical, financial or psychological assistance B.A.T. will do all it can to help.

This year the Association of Minor League Baseball, in it's annual giving to a charity during the spring training meetings in Arizona and Florida, raised $350 from the umpires individually. Then AMLU and OPEIU both matched the amount given by the umpires for a grand total of $1050 given to this great cause in 2015. Great work guys!
